Job summary

INDYCAR is seeking an External Affairs Community Engagement Intern for the 2027 season in Indianapolis. The role coordinates outreach and educational activities to connect the community with the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the NTT INDYCAR SERIES, and related entities.

You will support programming, social content, and event experiences under the VP of External Affairs and Senior Corporate Counsel. This internship runs January 2027–October 2027, with standard hours Monday–Friday and extended

Qualifications

• Strong word processing and data management skills (Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Excel)
• Interest in diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives
• Effective communication skills with attention to detail
• Ability to cultivate relationships with schools and community organizations
• Creative thinker who takes initiative on projects
• Proficiency with social media platforms and management tools
• Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud is a plus

Responsibilities

• Coordinate outreach to expose the community to IMS, INDYCAR events.
• Present educational content on IMS history and INDYCAR SERIES.
• Provide tours for community organizations.
• Coordinate Penske Entertainment Training program.
• Create and analyze experience feedback surveys for EACE programming.
• Develop engaging content for social media platforms.
• Attend meetings and some IMS events to support EACE programming.
• Perform tasks and errands as needed.
• Support other EACE or HR projects as assigned by leadership.
