Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (in any field) required for Level II
• Master's degree required for Level III or 2 years of experience as a Child Welfare Specialist if only a Bachelor's
• 90 hours from an accredited college or university; OR 3 years of related child welfare experience; OR a combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Investigates allegations of child abuse or neglect under CPS.
• Protects the safety of children and provides services to help families in need.
• Preserves and strengthens protective capacities of parents to keep the child at home.
• Provides services to families including permanency planning and arranging placements when needed.
• All new employees will complete the Child Welfare Core Academy Training Program; visit children in placement and conduct assessments; refer families to community services; participate in investigations and court hearings; provide testimony; and other duties as assigned.
