Job summary

Oklahoma Department of Human Services in Durant, Oklahoma is seeking Child Welfare Specialists at Levels I–III. Salaries range by level and include full state employee benefits, with a 5% incentive for Master’s in Social Work and an on-call bonus of $100–$150 biweekly.

Positions involve extensive travel; a valid driver’s license and state vehicle access are provided for duties. Training is provided to new employees as they join the Child Welfare Core Academy.

Qualifications

• Level I requires 90 hours from an accredited college or university.
• Level II requires a bachelor's degree or one year of experience as a Child Welfare Specialist.
• Level III requires a master's degree or equivalent plus relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Investigates allegations of child abuse or neglect.
• Protects child safety and provides services to families to reduce risk.
• Preserves protective capacities of parents to keep children at home where possible.
• Facilitates placements meeting medical, educational and physical needs.
• Completes required training and participates in court hearings and reporting.

Education

90 credit hours or equivalent

Bachelor's not required (see Level II/III)

Master's preferred for higher levels
