Job summary

Starr Regional Medical Center in Athens, TN, seeks a Respiratory Therapist to deliver and evaluate respiratory care per plan of care. You will measure lung function, analyze ABG results, and respond to codes while educating patients and families about illness and available resources.

The role includes equipment maintenance, sterilization, and involvement in cardiac stress testing and related diagnostics to support optimal patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Active Tennessee Respiratory Therapist license (ABG endorsed).
• Associate degree or equivalent Respiratory Therapy program completed.
• BLS certification required at hire.
• ACLS required within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Measures lung capacity and analyzes blood samples using a blood gas analyzer.
• Delivers and assesses response to ordered therapy per plan of care. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
• Evaluates respiratory care policies and procedures based on patient outcomes, current research, and best practices.
• Responds to codes and calls for emergent assistance. Assesses patient condition and delivers appropriate treatment.
• Educates the patient and family about the patient's illness and provides information about community support groups and other resources.
• Maintains storage areas with required supply levels and equipment.
• Disassembles, cleans, and sterilizes equipment, and performs preventative maintenance and calibration of machines.
• Operates electrophysiology/cardiac stress test equipment to perform clinical diagnostic electrophysiologic/cardiac stress test exams and routine invasive procedures according to established standards and practices.
