Job summary

Starr Regional Medical Center in Athens, TN is seeking a dedicated Respiratory Therapist to join the Cardiopulmonary team. You will perform and monitor respiratory care per plan of care, support patient comfort, and collaborate with multidisciplinary staff.

The role requires state licensure in Tennessee, ABG endorsement, and completion of an RT program; BLS and ACLS within 6 months; opportunities for growth and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Current Tennessee Respiratory Therapist license.
• ABG endorsement.
• Associates degree or completion of a Respiratory Therapy Certification Program.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required at hire.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Measures lung capacity and analyzes blood samples using a blood gas analyzer.
• Delivers and assesses response to ordered therapy per plan of care; monitors patient condition.
• Evaluates respiratory care policies and procedures based on outcomes and best practices.
• Responds to codes and emergent requests; delivers appropriate treatment.
• Educates patients and families about illness and community resources.
• Maintains storage areas with required supply levels and equipment.
• Disassembles, cleans, and sterilizes equipment and performs routine maintenance.
• Operates electrophysiology/cardiac stress test equipment for diagnostic tests per standards.

How You'll Contribute

• Measures lung capacity and analyzes blood samples using a blood gas analyzer.
• Delivers and assesses response to ordered therapy per plan of care. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
• Evaluates respiratory care policies and procedures based on patient outcomes, current research, and best practices.
• Responds to codes and calls for emergent assistance. Assesses patient condition and delivers appropriate treatment.
• Educates the patient and family about the patient's illness and provides information about community support groups and other resources.
• Maintains storage areas with required supply levels and equipment.
• Disassembles, cleans, and sterilizes equipment, and performs preventative maintenance and calibration of machines.
• Operates electrophysiology/cardiac stress test equipment to perform clinical diagnostic electrophysiologic/cardiac stress test exams and routine invasive procedures according to established standards and practices.

What We're Looking For

Applicants should have a current Tennessee Respiratory Therapist license. Must be ABG Endorsed. Associates degree or completion of a Respiratory Therapy Certification Program. Additional requirements include:

• Basic Life Support certification is required at the time of hire
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support required within 6 months of hire
