Job summary

Orleans-Niagara BOCES is seeking a Building Base Substitute Teacher to provide instruction and supervision in place of the regularly appointed teacher. Certification is preferred. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Duties include following lesson plans, engaging students, and maintaining classroom routines. Responsibilities cover attendance, student supervision, and basic technology support.

Qualifications

• Ability to follow oral and written directions.
• Ability to maintain effective classroom management strategies.
• Possess problem solving, patience, creativity, and analytical abilities.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Possess the ability to plan educational activities when plans are not available.

Responsibilities

• Follows the lesson plan left by the teacher for whom substituting in accordance with district goals.
• Engages students in lessons and activities in a clear and challenging way.
• Maintains established routines and classroom order.
• Takes attendance, monitors lunch and prepares students for dismissal.
• Assists with technology and corrects papers as needed.
• Acts professionally and as a positive role model for students.
