Job summary

MGO is seeking an experienced Assurance Manager to lead audits for state & local governments, tribal governments, and gaming entities in Irvine, CA. You will manage engagements from planning to issuance, supervise staff, and ensure GAAS and Yellow Book compliance.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in public accounting, a B.A. in Accounting, and an active CPA license, with deep knowledge of GASB, Single Audits, and Uniform Guidance to drive quality and growth within our SLG and Tribal Services

Qualifications

• 5+ years of public accounting experience in assurance services.
• Experience auditing state/local governments, tribal governments, tribal enterprises, casino/gaming entities or other regulated orgs.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
• Active CPA license required.
• Strong knowledge of GASB standards, Yellow Book and Single Audit.
• Experience with Uniform Guidance compliance testing.
• Knowledge of governmental fund accounting and reporting.
• Experience with tribal enterprise reporting and gaming audits is desirable.
• Proven ability to lead engagements, manage budgets and timelines.
• Strong mentoring and client relationship skills.
• Ability to manage multiple engagements in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee audit engagements from planning through issuance.
• Serve as primary client contact and build long-term relationships.
• Lead audits of governments, tribal governments, tribal enterprises, and gaming entities.
• Ensure engagements comply with GAAS, Yellow Book, and regulatory requirements.
• Oversee Single Audits and Uniform Guidance testing.
• Apply GASB standards to governmental financial reporting.
• Review work and coach staff; monitor progress and budgets.
• Identify improvements to audit processes and drive value-added recommendations.
• Support business development activities within the practice.
