Job summary

MGO is seeking an experienced Assurance Manager to lead audits and assurance engagements for state and local governments, tribal governments, tribal enterprises, and gaming entities. You will manage multiple client engagements, oversee engagement teams, and provide strategic guidance to clients as a trusted advisor.

The ideal candidate has strong GASB, GAAS, Yellow Book knowledge, and a CPA license, with 5+ years of public accounting experience.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of public accounting experience in assurance services.
• Experience auditing state and local governments, tribal governments, tribal enterprises, casino and gaming entities, or other highly regulated organizations preferred.
• Active CPA license required.
• Strong knowledge of GASB, GAAS, Yellow Book and Single Audit requirements.

Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee audit engagements from planning through issuance, including risk assessment, staffing, budgeting, scheduling, and quality control review.
• Serve as the primary client contact and build strong, long-term relationships through exceptional client service and strategic guidance.
• Lead audits of state and local governments, tribal governments, tribal enterprises, and casino and gaming entities.
• Ensure engagements are performed in accordance with GAAS, Yellow Book, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Oversee Single Audits and testing of federal grant compliance under Uniform Guidance.
• Apply and interpret GASB accounting standards and governmental financial reporting requirements.
• Review work performed by Senior Associates and Associates, providing coaching, mentorship, and technical guidance.
• Monitor engagement progress, budgets, realization, and billing to ensure timely and profitable completion.
• Identify opportunities to improve audit efficiency, strengthen internal processes, and provide value-added recommendations to clients.
• Assist with recruiting, employee development, performance management, and retention initiatives within the practice.
• Support business development activities, including proposal preparation, networking, and identifying opportunities for practice growth.
• Stay current on governmental accounting standards, federal compliance requirements, tribal governance considerations, and gaming industry regulations.
