Job summary

La Mere Academy, located in Leander, TX, is seeking an Assistant Director to support daily operations of a licensed childcare center and help lead the team to excellence.

The role involves staff management, enrollment, family engagement, licensing compliance, curriculum implementation, and acting Director when needed. A leadership background in early childhood education and strong communication are essential for success.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 2 years of leadership experience in a licensed childcare center, preschool, or early childhood education program.
• Experience supervising staff and managing daily childcare operations.
• Strong knowledge of state childcare licensing regulations.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with childcare management software, Microsoft Office, and digital communication tools.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the childcare center and ensure classrooms maintain appropriate teacher-to-child ratios.
• Support Director in enrollment, retention, and quality improvement goals and act as Director in their absence.
• Recruit, hire, onboard, and retain teaching staff; manage scheduling and coverage.
• Ensure compliance with state licensing regulations and maintain required records and documentation.
• Foster family engagement, conduct tours, assist with enrollment, and maintain child/family records.
• Support curriculum implementation, monitor lesson planning, and promote school readiness and positive behavior guidance.
