Job summary

Bowie State University seeks an Assistant Director for Disability Support Services to foster an inclusive, accessible experience for students with disabilities and ensure compliance with ADA/ADAAA and related laws. The role involves developing programs, trainings, and services, and supervising staff and interpreters.

You will collaborate with Residence Life and other campus partners to implement accommodations and support services, advancing accessibility across the university.

Qualifications

Knowledge of ADA/504/508 and related laws governing services for individuals with disabilities.
Ability to review psychoeducational evaluations and supporting documentation.
Experience with technology support tools.

Responsibilities

Foster an inclusive and accessible experience for students with disabilities.
Ensure programs, services, and activities comply with ADA/ADAAA, Section 504, and Section 508.
Develop programs, trainings and services; present workshops on disabilities for faculty, staff, students, and external agencies.
Assist in hiring contractual employees, including interpreters.
Provide training, supervision, and scheduling for scribes.
Collaborate with Residence Life to implement housing accommodations.
