Job summary

University Avenue Discovery Center (UADC) is seeking a Lead After-School Teacher for about 30 hours a week. The schedule is typically 11:30 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with supervision by the Executive Director.

Qualifications

• Experience in education settings (preschool, 4K, or after-school) and classroom management.
• Ability to articulate school-age development and education theory.
• Strong verbal and written communication with staff, parents, and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate knowledge of school-age development and education.
• Plan and execute developmentally appropriate curricular content for children in a group setting.
• Provide a safe, caring classroom environment and effective communication with families.
• Communicate clearly with teaching team, parents, and the Executive Director.
• Manage multiple tasks with sound judgment in high-stress situations.
• May administer medications, CPR/First Aid, and handle emergencies as needed.
• Support cultural diversity and family issues impacting child development.
• Apply positive, social-emotional problem-solving strategies.
• Collaborate with team teachers and teaching assistants.
