Job summary

The Guidance Center in Michigan seeks an Intake Therapist in the Adult Behavioral Health Program. You will conduct intake assessments, gather information, and use motivational interviewing to understand needs.

You will inform clients about available services and begin person-centered planning with safety measures. You will develop treatment plans, coordinate referrals, promote recovery services, and ensure timely documentation while maintaining licensure and ethical standards.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in SW, Psychology or Counseling with MI licensure and 1+ year adult mental health experience.
• Must obtain QMHP credential within 120 days of hire.
• Must have CAADC credential or be on a certified development plan.
• Engage adults with mental illness; develop initial treatment plans.

Responsibilities

• Conduct intake assessments and document within 48 hours.
• Gather information from consumers, families, and providers for intake.
• Use motivational interviewing to assess motivation and needs.
• Inform clients about services and supports available.
• Initiate person-centered planning and develop safety plans.
• Identify needs requiring further evaluation and facilitate referrals.
• Promote group and recovery support services; participate in supervision.
• Document all face-to-face activity and maintain licensure.
