Job summary

Management & Training Corporation (MTC) is seeking an instructor at the East Mississippi Correctional Facility in Meridian, MS to provide academic instruction to inmates under approved curricula. This role emphasizes safe, compliant teaching aligned with MDOC directives and MTC policies.

The Educator will lead ABE/GED classes, develop material, assess progress, and collaborate with local school districts to support inmates' learning goals and successful reintegration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Teacher Education from a state approved or NCATE approved program.
• One year related experience preferred. ESL and special education certifications required if instructing in these areas.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct classes for inmates in Adult Basic Education (ABE) and General Education Development (GED).
• Prepare special teaching plans, courses, and activities for inmates.
• Utilize audio-visual teaching materials tailored to inmate needs.
• Administer educational tests and use results for instruction.
• Counsel and advise inmates on academic problems.
• Coordinate activities with school districts or involved parties.
• Develop educational materials for classes.
