Job summary

Oakland Schools is seeking a 5th and 6th combined classroom teacher for Birmingham Covington School in Michigan. This full-time role begins November 9th and runs through June 14th, 2027, on a terminating contract.

The successful candidate will hold a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with endorsements in elementary education or related discipline, and will deliver literacy and mathematics instruction using evidence-based practices while maintaining strong classroom management and technology

Qualifications

• Certification: Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsement (e.g., Elementary Education [ZB/EX], Mathematics [EX], English [BA], or Language Arts [BX]).
• Relational Leadership: Proven ability to build strong connections with upper elementary and middle school learners, support student emotional well-being, and foster a collaborative classroom environment.
• Content Mastery: Deep knowledge of elementary and middle school literacy and mathematics content, along with evidence-based instructional strategies across both disciplines.
• Classroom Management: Strong classroom management skills with demonstrated success in guiding diverse groups of students across whole-class, small-group, and independent learning formats.
• Tech & Organization: Proficiency with modern educational technology, digital grading platforms, and learning management systems (e.g., PowerSchool, Schoology, Google Classroom).
