Job summary

Archdiocese of Detroit is seeking a dedicated Long Term Substitute Teacher to provide math instruction for 5th and 6th grade students in Canton, MI. The successful candidate will maintain continuity of instruction during the regular teacher’s absence and foster a positive learning environment.

Responsibilities include delivering aligned math lessons, assessing progress, communicating with families and staff, and participating in meetings and professional development as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education or Mathematics or a related field.
• Valid teaching certification or substitute teaching license preferred.
• Experience teaching upper elementary math (5th and 6th grade) is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Deliver math instruction aligned with the curriculum for 5th and 6th grade students.
• Maintain a positive and productive classroom environment conducive to learning.
• Implement lesson plans provided by the regular classroom teacher or develop lessons as needed.
• Assess student progress and provide feedback to students and administration.
• Manage classroom behavior and maintain discipline according to school policies.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
• Attend staff meetings and professional development sessions as required.
