Job summary

BVMI, a Bergen County nonprofit ambulatory care center, is seeking a Data Analyst to support impact reporting, data visualization, and operational analytics. Qualifications

  • Experience with impact assessment and performance metrics reporting in nonprofit/healthcare.
  • Ability to translate data into clear narratives for grant proposals and donor publications.

Job Summary

This is a hybrid position based in Hackensack, New Jersey, with work performed during standard business hours, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. ET. The position requires regular on-site work at BVMI’s Hackensack location. Applicants must reside within a reasonable commuting distance and be authorized to work in the United States.

Bergen Volunteer Medical Initiative (BVMI) is an NJ State-licensed nonprofit ambulatory care center providing free primary and preventive medical care to low-income, working, uninsured residents of Bergen County. Guided by a "Culture of Caring" philosophy, our staff and dedicated cadre of volunteer practitioners are committed to serving patients of diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds with dignity and respect.

Job Duties
Impact Reporting & Visualizations (Approx. 25% of time):
  • Data Visualization: Create high-impact visual summaries and infographics translating clinical outcomes into digestible insights for non-technical audiences.
  • Impact Strategy & Reporting: Lead data collection and provide core analytics for BVMI's Impact Reports, grant narratives, and strategic publications.
  • Impact Benchmarking: Maintain frameworks to compare BVMI's outcomes against national health equity standards.
Data Infrastructure & System Maintenance (Approx. 30% of time):
  • Technical Lead: Maintain data connections, administration, and optimization across Alteryx, Athenahealth, Snowflake, and Tableau.
  • ETL Management: Maintain and update existing ETL workflows to transform and prepare data for analysis.
  • Optimization & Uptime: Build select dashboards for operational efficiency and troubleshoot technical issues to ensure reporting reliability.
Clinical & Operational Data Analysis (Approx. 30% of time):
  • Insight Generation: Conduct targeted analyses on patient demographics, social determinants of health, and clinical outcomes to demonstrate organizational impact.
  • Compliance & Recognition: Prepare data submissions for national recognition programs (e.g., American Heart Association, Road to Health Equity, NAFC).
  • Operational Trends: Track and report key patient volume and healthcare trends to inform leadership.
Cross-Functional Collaboration (Approx. 15% of time):
  • Strategic Resource: Serve as the data partner for Development and Clinical teams, providing validated metrics for donor stewardship and grant reporting.
  • Transparency Management: Maintain updated data profiles on charity watchdog and transparency platforms.
Employment Standards
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in SQL, Excel, Tableau, and ETL concepts required.
  • Experience: Proven experience in impact assessment and performance metrics reporting within the nonprofit or healthcare sector.
  • Communication: Strong ability to translate complex data into clear, compelling narratives, visual summaries, and actionable recommendations for grant proposals and donor-facing publications.
