Job summary

Designing Justice+ Designing Spaces in Oakland, CA, seeks a Managing Director to lead our architecture and real estate verticals within a hybrid work model (3 days in office). The role reports to the Executive Director and carries a salary of $200,000–$225,000 with leadership across fundraising and operations.

Qualifications

• 15+ years across architecture and real estate development.
• 10+ years in organizational leadership with cross-disciplinary scope.
• Experience leading large, complex projects with stakeholders.
• Familiarity with nonprofit/for-profit hybrid models and fundraising.
• Strong people management, mentorship, and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day leadership of real estate and architecture verticals.
• Partner with the Executive Director to steward strategy, culture, and growth.
• Lead project selection, fundraising, and day-to-day operations.
• Develop and manage goals, KPIs, and growth plans across verticals.
• Guide external relationships, proposals, and client engagement.
