Job summary

The Animal Legal Defense Fund is seeking a Litigation Program Fellowship for Fall 2027–2029. This fully remote, U.S.-based role offers hands-on experience in strategic impact litigation, including research, filings, and case management under supervision.

Fellows may lead as second-year capabilities grow and work with staff attorneys to develop new cases. The program emphasizes developing litigation skills, drafting amicus briefs, and coordinating with multiple programs and departments.

Qualifications

• Must have JD and be admitted to practice law in the state of residence on start date.
• Strong organizational and prioritization skills with ability to meet deadlines.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Act as counsel under supervision for assigned cases and projects, potential lead counsel in year two.
• Develop skills in motions practice, filings, appearances, and arguments.
• Research novel legal theories and strategies for new cases.
• Coordinate with other programs and manage pro bono/local counsel.
