Job summary

National Center for Youth Law (NCYL) seeks a Directing Attorney to lead the development and execution of complex litigation across multiple jurisdictions. The position will oversee investigations, filings, discovery, trials, settlements, and public communications, reporting to the co-directors of litigation.

This is a temporary, full-time appointment for about one year. The role also involves collaboration on litigation strategy, fundraising, and external representation, with a focus on equity

Qualifications

• Requires a law degree (JD) and bar admission in good standing.
• At least 10–12 years leading impact litigation across multiple jurisdictions.
• Strong research, writing, and advocacy skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex litigation opportunities and manage investigations, filings, discovery, and trials.
• Oversee remedy implementation, settlements, and fee recovery.
• Supervise staff and co-counsel; coordinate budgets and fundraising efforts.
• Represent NCYL externally in conferences, media, and public forums.
