Job summary

Achievement Prep is seeking a Middle School Lead Teacher for Social Studies in Washington, DC. You will lead data-driven instruction, tailor lessons to meet diverse needs, and collaborate with SPED teams to close the achievement gap.

You will report to the Instructional Coach and engage with scholars and families to build trust while advancing our mission of joyful rigor and high expectations across the middle school curriculum.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field.
• Teaching license or Praxis scores (if not an education major).
• 2+ years of K-12 teaching experience.
• Experience in underserved communities.

Responsibilities

• Teach Social Studies to 3-4 groups of scholars daily.
• Implement a research-based curriculum.
• Personalize instruction for scholars with IEPs.
• Create assessments and use data to ensure mastery of standards.
• Collaborate with peers to set data-driven academic goals.
• Cultivate a joyful and consistent classroom culture.
• Collaborate and co-teach with SPED Teachers.
• Engage with scholars and families to build trust and rapport.
• Support family events and communicate scholar progress.
• Continuously improve teaching practice through professional development.
• Integrate into the school community and assume additional responsibilities.
