Boone County Schools seeks a High School Assistant Softball Coach for Van Jr./Sr. High School to support the Head Coach in organizing and operating the softball program. You will guide student-athletes, promote teamwork, discipline, and academic achievement, while upholding school policies and WVSSAC rules.

The role emphasizes safety, skill development, and positive role modeling, with duties spanning practices, games, and program planning within the coaching salary schedule.

Qualifications

• Meet all applicable West Virginia Department of Education, WVSSAC, and Boone County Schools requirements for athletic coaches.
• Ability to instruct softball fundamentals including throwing, catching, hitting, fielding, pitching and base running.
• Demonstrate leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Capable of fostering sportsmanship, character development and academic achievement.

Responsabilités

• Assist the Head Coach in planning, organizing, and implementing the high school softball program in accordance with Boone County Schools policies and WVSSAC regulations.
• Assist in conducting practices, conditioning activities, and softball skill-development sessions.
• Provide instruction in softball fundamentals and strategies.
• Supervise student-athletes during practices, games, and travel.
• Promote a positive athletic environment and monitor eligibility and compliance.
