Job summary

Shenandoah Community School District is seeking a qualified individual to serve as the High School Assistant Softball Coach for the 2027 summer season and beyond. You will help plan practices, teach fundamentals, and guide players toward academic accountability and sportsmanship.

The role involves pre-game preparation, in-game adjustments, and post-game discussions, while ensuring athlete safety and compliance with school and league rules.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Experience coaching at high school travel ball level preferred.
• Valid state coaching license/permit or eligibility to obtain before season start.
• First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications required.
• Mandatory state trainings: concussion in sports, sudden cardiac arrest, heat illness prevention.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, organizing, and executing daily practices and game strategies.
• Provide instruction on softball fundamentals, positioning, and technique.
• Support players’ physical, mental, and emotional growth while promoting academics and sportsmanship.
• Assist with pre-game prep, lineup management, in-game adjustments, and post-game debriefs.
• Ensure health and safety of student-athletes during practices, games, and travel.
