Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm; Hybrid


This position is eligible for Paid Sick and Safe Time (PSST) under the Healthy Families and Workplaces Act. All employees may also make pre-tax or post-tax (Roth) contributions to our retirement plan - must be 18 years of age to participate.



JOB SUMMARY:


To develop a plan with the program participants to assist in obtaining employment and becoming self-sufficient. To assess the participant's education, work experience and barriers. To provide counsel regarding occupational choices and opportunities. To determine participant and family needs and assist them with the necessary paperwork and referrals to access wrap-around services. To provide day-to-day case management for program participants. Facilitate classes as necessary. View case management as a collaborative process, utilizing a strengths-based approach to guide, support and motivate participants and ensure that all are fully supported as they progress through programming. Arrange for supportive services as needed, provide referrals, and maintain a working knowledge of community partnerships and resources.



KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS:


IMPACS and Case Management:


The Employment Specialist will assess and interview clients/noncustodial parents to obtain necessary information and background for accurately assessing their individual situations. The incumbent will identify the barriers keeping the participant from obtaining gainful employment and assist clients to resolve the barriers identified. The Employment Specialist is responsible for conducting all interviews and assessments in a professional and timely manner and in such a way that the rights and dignity of the clients are preserved. The incumbent will help recipients develop employment focused plans and motivate clients in carrying out their plans. The Employment Specialist will evaluate participant progress. The incumbent will conduct group orientations and such instructional classes as required.


The Employment Specialist will:



  • Determine participant and family needs

  • Assist participants with the necessary paperwork and referrals to access wrap-around services.

  • Provide day-to-day case management for program participants.


o Regularly scheduled check-ins meetings



  • Provide guidance, supportive services, resources and referrals


o Determine eligibility and job readiness


o Recommend program and certifications that minimize barriers to successful employment.


o Provide program orientation, job readiness workshops, classes and guidance regarding work history, education, interest, abilities and other relevant information.



  • Arrange for supportive services as needed

  • Refer to job development when deemed appropriate.

  • Provide service overview and the benefits of program participation..

  • Provide 2Gen services so that all family members are stable and successful.



Processing, Tracking and Reporting:


The Employment Specialist will closely monitor and track the participant's attendance and progress is all recommended classes and trainings. Participants who have demonstrated that they are motivated, reliable and dependable will be referred to the Job Developer. The Employment Specialist will maintain a complete file of all records, documents, communications and other materials which pertain to the operation of the program. The Employment Specialist will maintain operational proficiency on the automated data processing system and make data entries and retrievals as necessary to accomplish duties. The Employment Specialist will supply information, answer questions and keep accurate records of jobs obtained.



Relationship Management:


The Employment Specialist is responsible for establishing and maintaining a positive and professional relationship with all customers, vendors, clients, and co-workers presenting a positive image. The Employment Specialist will attend all meetings viewed as opportunities to establish/strengthen community partnerships. The incumbent will deal effectively and calmly with non-routine situations following accepted guidelines, communicating significant problems to management and act as a community liaison. The incumbent will assist with special projects and serve on committees as needed, and attend all pertinent staff and other meetings as required and perform other job duties as assigned by management.



Research and Industry Involvement:


The Employment specialist is required to research in order to keep skills and knowledge updated by reading trade journals, various appropriate Intranet and Internet sources as well as print media as needed to be aware of trends, theories or initiatives within case management, child support services and other applicable programs and services. The incumbent will maintain a working and current knowledge of all laws, regulations, policies, directives, systems forms and available professional material pertaining to and applicable to this position. The incumbent will seek out seminars and symposiums for ideas and stay current with trends in new software, tools and resources available. The Employment Specialist must also maintain a working and current knowledge of Goodwill Industries' policies and procedures as well as community resources.




QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:



  • A Bachelors Degree in Human Services or related field.



Experience:



  • Three (3) years work experience in the same or related field.



Other:



  • It is preferred that the incumbent have excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrate the ability to interact with various types of internal and external customers in a culturally respectful and appropriate manner. Must work effectively with participants, co-workers, and community organizations.

  • The incumbent must also be self-motivated, demonstrate initiative in assuming duties and responsibilities and consistently following through with tasks demonstrating responsiveness to the needs of the program and State.

  • The Employment Specialist must have the ability to work independently, cooperatively and to exercise effective planning while working effectively with the pressure of deadlines. In addition, the Employment Specialist must be flexible, able to motivate clients and utilize effective negotiating and counseling techniques.

  • The incumbent must also conduct self in a professional manner and maintain a professional appearance that enhances the firm's reputation.

  • The Employment Specialist must have experience speaking effectively to various small groups in a presenting/informative role. Meet deadlines at the special request of the Workforce Development management.

  • The incumbent must be proficient in computer use and able to type 50 wpm accurately. Maintain accurate records.

  • Position requires sitting for extended periods and using a computer keyboard for a minimum of four hours each day.

  • The incumbent will be expected to maintain confidentiality regarding agency and client records and information.

  • Overtime and/or weekend hours may be required when necessary as well as some travel to attend meetings and required training.

  • The incumbent will be required and must have the ability to drive for company business*.



*Per auto vehicle insurance carrier requirements: For applicants/employees to qualify for inclusion on the Goodwill driver insurance schedule, for purpose of driving Goodwill fleet vehicles, or for purpose of receiving company mileage reimbursement they must be at least:




  • 19 years of age (not engaged in passenger transportation),

  • 25 - 70 years of age for all passenger transportation services,

  • 21 years of age for CDL.


Applicants/employee will be required to undergo a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check and background check; applicants/employees must disclose all moving traffic violations or vehicle crashes (within the last five (5) years)(Note: not all violations are a disqualification for employment and each case will be reviewed by the insurance carrier); must have valid Colorado State driver license; must also be able to operate company vehicle, and adhere to all Federal, State, and local laws governing vehicle operation.
