Job summary

The Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, California, seeks a Research Assistant I for the Chanda Lab in Immunology. This temporary, on-site position supports new technology development and high-throughput assays to aid anti-tumor and auto-immune drug discovery.

You will perform molecular cloning, mammalian cell culture, data analysis, and documentation in a fast-paced team environment; the role requires a B.S. in a related field and 1–3 years of experience, with visa sponsorship not available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in biology, biochemistry, microbiology, or related field.
• 1-3 years of related experience required.
• Experience in working with mammalian cells is required.
• Experience with molecular cloning is preferred.
• Experience with database interfaces and data analysis using Excel and Prism is preferred.
• Experience with automated liquid handling instruments is a plus.
• Experience with gene expression analysis (RT-qPCR, NGS, etc.) is a plus.
• Excellent oral and written communications skills.
• Letter of recommendation and/or at least one professional reference is required.

Responsibilities

• Molecular cloning.
• Human primary cell and cell line culture, preparation of media and reagents.
• Execute high-throughput assays against for screening campaigns.
• Data analysis and lab notebook documentation.
• Attention to detail, dexterity, troubleshooting in a fast-paced environment.
