Job summary

The Chanda Lab at Scripps Research Institute in San Diego seeks a Research Assistant I to support new technology development and anti-tumor and autoimmune drug discovery through high‑throughput assays and in vitro validation.

You will work with mammalian cells, perform cloning, prepare media, document data in lab notebooks, and contribute to data analysis in a collaborative, fast‑paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in biology, biochemistry, microbiology, or related field.
• 1–3 years of related experience required.
• Experience working with mammalian cells required.
• Experience with molecular cloning preferred.
• Experience with database interface and data analysis using Excel and Prism preferred.
• Experience with automated liquid handling instruments a plus.
• Experience with gene expression analysis (RT-qPCR, NGS, etc.) a plus.
• Excellent oral and written communications skills.
• Letter of recommendation and/or at least one professional reference required.

Responsibilities

• Molecular cloning.
• Human primary cell and cell line culture, preparation of media and reagents.
• Lentivirus production.
• Execute high-throughput assays against screening campaigns.
• Data analysis and lab notebook documentation.
• Position requires attention to detail and ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
