Job summary

EnquBio Inc. in San Diego seeks an experienced Associate Director with deep immunology and ex vivo expertise to lead immunology-focused in vitro and ex vivo programs. You will design assays, supervise primary tissue studies, and advance translational capabilities for client-sponsored projects.

The candidate will manage study design, data interpretation, and reporting, while mentoring staff and collaborating with business development to pursue new opportunities.

Qualifications

• PhD in Immunology, Cellular Biology, Molecular Biology, Pharmacology, or closely related field.
• 7+ years of relevant research in biotech, CRO, or pharma.
• Strong expertise in immunology, inflammation, and ex vivo pharmacology.
• Hands-on experience with multiparameter flow cytometry and data analysis.
• Experience with primary immune cell isolation and co-culture systems.
• Experience with ex vivo tissue-based studies and cytokine analysis.
• Proven ability to lead complex scientific studies and mentor staff.
• Excellent scientific communication and client-facing skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide scientific leadership for immunology and ex vivo pharmacology projects, ensuring quality and timely delivery.
• Design and optimize in vitro and ex vivo assays, incl. 3D co-culture models.
• Oversee immune cell-based functional assays (activation, proliferation, cytokines, cytotoxicity).
• Lead development of multiparameter flow cytometry for immune profiling.
• Direct work with human tissues and animal models as applicable.
• Lead client-facing scientific discussions, study design, and data interpretation.
• Identify new technologies to expand service offerings and capabilities.
• Mentor and develop scientific staff; collaborate across functions.
