Job summary

Vertex Pharmaceuticals is seeking a Scientist for the Discovery Immunology Group in Seattle to advance protein therapeutics for autoimmune diseases. The role involves designing, executing, and analyzing experiments on immune mechanisms, target validation, and therapeutic development in a collaborative lab setting. A Ph.D.

or equivalent with relevant post-doctoral or industry experience is typical. You will work with primary human immune cells, perform multicolor flow cytometry and Incucyte

Qualifications

• Hands-on tissue culture experience with primary human immune cells and cell lines.
• Solid immunology knowledge, esp. T and B cell biology, with eagerness to learn.
• Ability to design and execute complex experiments in disease contexts.
• Experience with cell-based immunology assays including multicolor flow cytometry and Incucyte.
• Experience measuring soluble analytes (ELISA or MSD).
• Strong problem-solving and independence, with ability to work in a team.
• Excellent organization and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Isolate, culture, and manipulate primary human immune cells and cell lines.
• Design and execute experiments to interrogate immune cell phenotype and function.
• Troubleshoot experiments and optimize protocols.
• Collect, analyze, and interpret data with detailed records.
• Collaborate with discovery teams to achieve project goals.
• Prepare data for internal reports and presentations.
• Perform other duties as needed.
