Job summary

San Diego Blood Bank is seeking an Immunohematology Reference Lab CLS II to perform complex serology, blood grouping, antibody identification, and pre-transfusion testing in a compliant environment. You will contribute to donor and patient testing, ensure accuracy, and support quality initiatives.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree, CLS credentials, and 3+ years in a laboratory, with emphasis on immunohematology, AABB standards, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• MLS/MT(ASCP)CM or equivalent experience.
• CA Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) required.
• CA Clinical Immunohematologist Scientist (CIS) preferred.
• Greater than three (3) years of laboratory experience.
• Knowledge of AABB Standards, FDA, CLIA and related regulations.

Responsibilities

• Performs all duties in compliance with SOPs and external regulations.
• Provides guidance and expertise for the laboratory to meet customer needs.
• Supports GMP and Quality Plan; adheres to GMP guidelines.
• Assist in training new personnel and staff.
• Maintains department records, reports and data.
• Performs donor and patient red cell antigen typing and testing.
• Performs pre-transfusion compatibility testing and crossmatching.
• Generates verbal and written reports and offers technical consultation.
