Job summary

Eurofins USA PSS Insourcing Solutions in Boston, MA is seeking a scientist to join the Neuroscience Biomarkers team. The role focuses on immunoassay workflows to identify and quantify biomarkers in serum, plasma, CSF, tissue, supporting neurodegenerative disease research.

You will gain hands-on experience with ELISA and MSD-based assays, contribute to method development and validation, and work in a collaborative, fast-moving environment with on-site lab work and reporting to internal partners.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related life sciences field with at least 3 years of relevant industry experience utilizing ELISA and MSD.
  • Strong understanding of immunoassay principles, protein biomarker quantification, and assay validation.
  • Hands-on experience in protein biomarker applications (clinical diagnostics, clinical trials, or preclinical sample analysis).
  • Experience working with human or animal specimens (tissue and biofluids such as plasma, serum, and CSF) under BSL-2 or equivalent safety conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Analyses as part of the development and validation of novel immunoassay-based biomarker methods for clinical trials in neurodegenerative diseases.
  • Work with project team leads to support preclinical and clinical characterization of therapeutic molecules via biomarker assay development.
  • Assist with planning and execution of immunoassay method developments, optimization, validation, and sample analyses.
  • Work on-site in the laboratory and summarize/report method status of results for internal partners.
  • Implement assay validation procedures to deliver high-performance biomarker assays for preclinical and clinical samples.

Job Description

The position will support a Neuroscience Biomarkers client team that is responsible for immunoassay-based methods to identify and quantify biomarkers associated with neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer's Disease, Parkinson's Disease, and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. We are looking for a motivated scientist eager to gain hands‑on experience in immunoassay workflows applied to serum, plasma, CSF, sample lysate and tissue biomarker studies, and to grow their technical skills in a collaborative, fast-moving research environment.

Job Responsibilities
  • Analyses as part of the development and validation of novel immunoassay-based biomarker methods, as well as applications of these methods for clinical trials in neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, ALS, and rare brain disorders.
  • Work with project team leads and other associates to perform experiments to support both the preclinical and clinical characterization and evaluation of therapeutic molecules through biomarker assay development.
  • Assist with the planning and execution of immunoassay method developments, method optimization and validation, as well as sample analyses from different preclinical samples sets and clinical cohorts.
  • Work directly on‑site with methods in the laboratory, and with summarizing and reporting method status of results for internal partners.
  • Implement assay validation procedures to deliver high-performance biomarker assays for preclinical and clinical sample analyses.
Qualifications
Basic Minimum Qualifications
  • B.S. in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related life sciences field with at least 3 years of relevant industry experience utilizing ELISA and MSD.
  • Strong understanding of the principles for immunoassays (e.g. antibodies and other ligand‑based molecules, assay design), protein biomarker quantification, and assay validation.
  • Hands‑on experience in protein biomarker applications (e.g. clinical diagnostics, clinical trials, or preclinical sample analysis).
  • Experience working with human or animal specimens (tissue and biofluids such as plasma, serum, and CSF) under BSL‑2 or equivalent safety conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with clinical sample analysis using immunoassay methods.
  • Additional qualitative (e.g. electrophoresis techniques, Western blot) and quantitative (e.g. Ella, Simoa, NULISA, SpearBio) immunoassay-based analyses.
  • Experience with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI), and/or Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) validation standards.
  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.

The position is full‑time, Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm with overtime as needed. Candidates living within a commutable distance of Boston, MA are encouraged to apply.
