Job summary

HANAC, Inc. in Astoria, NY is seeking a Paralegal & Case Manager Specialist to provide comprehensive legal and case management support to the Program Attorney and Program Director.

The role focuses on immigration and victim services, including U-Visas, VAWA, T-Visas, and Asylum, with attention to confidentiality and compliance. The position requires 2–4 years of experience in paralegal or nonprofit settings, proficiency in MS Office, and familiarity with CLIO and Cerenade.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) and 2–4 years of paralegal or nonprofit/human services experience.
• Proficiency in MS Office; hands-on experience with CLIO and Cerenade case management systems.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills; valid I-9 work authorization; background check/fingerprinting.

Responsibilities

• End-to-End Case Management: manage assigned caseloads from intake through resolution with confidential records in CLIO and Cerenade.
• Legal Drafting & Filings: draft, proofread, and assemble legal documents and affidavits; conduct legal research and prepare summaries.
• Field & Court Support: travel to NYC courts, police precincts, and agencies for filings/hearings; gather evidence including police records.
• Client & Agency Coordination: communicate with clients, law enforcement, courts, and service providers; coordinate referrals, translations, and interpreter services.
