Job summary

Community Legal Aid SoCal (CLA SoCal) seeks an Immigration Staff Attorney to provide skilled representation for qualified immigrants. The role sits in the Immigration Unit, handling cases before USCIS and EOIR and supervising paralegals and interns.

The attorney will engage in outreach and policy advocacy to address systemic issues affecting vulnerable communities. The position requires a JD, active California Bar membership, and at least 5 years in immigration law, including humanitarian-based

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree and active California Bar membership (or eligible for registration as a legal services provider).
• 5+ years of Immigration law experience, including humanitarian-based claims.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a caseload of immigration cases including SIJS, asylum, U visas, T visas, and VAWA.
• Represent clients before USCIS and EOIR Immigration Court.
• Supervise paralegals, interns, and volunteers as needed.
• Engage in policy advocacy and community outreach.
• Prepare pleadings, memoranda, and other legal documents.
• Maintain detailed case notes and timekeeping in LegalServer.
