Immigration Paralegal
Jackson Lewis P.C. is seeking an Immigration Paralegal to prepare and file all USCIS forms and draft supporting legal letters for a variety of visa applications and petitions.
Responsibilities
- Assist and support attorneys in the preparation and filing of non‑immigrant petitions such as H‑1B, L‑1A/L‑1B, E‑3, E‑2, TN, O‑1, and P visas.
- Assist and support attorneys in the preparation of immigrant matters including PERMs, EB‑1/2/3 I‑140s, I‑485s, and naturalization applications.
- Maintain communication with clients throughout the lifecycle of each case and respond to client status inquiries.
- Liaise with government agencies (USCIS, ICE, CBP, U.S. Department of State, U.S. Department of Labor) as required.
- Analyze, review, and organize documents and data; coordinate document production and responses to requests for evidence.
- Prepare job descriptions, gather evidence, prepare declarations, and assemble exhibits for court filings.
- Assist in obtaining civil and criminal court records for immigration matters and prepare responses to audit requests.
- Track and manage cases, including filing remaining steps, processing times, consular appointment issues, and ongoing case status updates.
- Enter billable and non‑billable time into Intapp and maintain accurate client matter reports.
- Demonstrate strategic thinking, initiative, and the ability to identify and resolve procedural delays.
- Adhere to office and firm protocols, including punctuality, time management, and health & safety requirements.
Qualifications and Skills
- 2+ years of business immigration law experience.
- Ability to manage client relationships for high‑volume clients and complex projects under short deadlines.
- Proficiency with billing and case‑management systems (Intapp, Tracker).
- Strong attention to detail, organizational and project‑management skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, multitask, and prioritize in a fast‑paced environment.
- Team orientation, professionalism, and initiative.
- Flexibility to work overtime when necessary.
- Educational requirements: Bachelor’s degree (preferred) or relevant work experience; paralegal certificate (preferred).
