Job summary

University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee seeks a full-time Immigration Coordinator to support international students with immigration advising and document issuance. The role participates in maintaining DHS-mandated data and ensuring compliance through SEVIS reporting, reporting to the Director of International Student and Scholar Services.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years in higher education, with preferred Master’s degree and experience as a DSO/ARO.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Citizen or permanent residency required to serve as DSO and ARO.
  • Strong ability to create written communication as shown in cover letter.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a post-secondary academic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide immigration advising to international students about DHS, DoS, DoL regulations and maintain legal student status.
  • Act as a DSO and issue I-20s and DS-2019s, ensure SEVIS data accuracy.
  • Coordinate employment authorization recommendations with SEVIS.
  • Coordinate prearrival advising for student admits applying for visas and counsel on visa denials.
  • Schedule programs and develop resources for international students within budget guidelines.
