Job summary

USC Gould School of Law invites applications for a Project Director to lead the Bar Panel assisting detained immigrants in Los Angeles County. The role focuses on program administration, client intakes, case placement, and supervision of support staff.

The ideal candidate will have a J.D., active CA Bar license, at least 5 years in immigration law, and fluency in Spanish. It is a fixed-term, benefits-eligible, 1-year position with renewal potential based on funding and performance.

Qualifications

• J.D. degree required.
• Active California Bar license required (attorneys licensed outside CA considered).
• Minimum of 5 years of immigration law experience.
• Experience representing clients in removal and bond proceedings in immigration court.
• Strong management skills and organizational abilities.
• Experience supervising staff.
• Ability to work independently.
• Fluency in Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Oversee administration of the Bar Panel, including vetting applicants and conducting client intakes.
• Place cases and provide technical assistance to Bar Panel members; administer payments and monitor compliance.
• Provide case tracking reports and supervise support staff involved in Panel activities.
• Coordinate with the Gould Immigration Clinic and the Los Angeles County Office of Immigrant Affairs as needed.
