Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
• Active membership in good standing in a U.S. state or D.C. bar, with eligibility to practice before immigration agencies and courts.
• Immigration law experience preferred, particularly in family-based matters, humanitarian relief, or removal defense.
• Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
• Ability to manage a substantial caseload and competing deadlines.
• Sensitivity to cultural differences and experience working with clients under stress.

Responsibilities

• Conduct consultations, evaluate eligibility for immigration benefits or relief, and develop case strategies.
• Manage immigration matters from intake through resolution.
• Prepare and review applications, petitions, legal briefs, declarations, and supporting evidence.
• Represent clients before immigration agencies and immigration courts, as authorized and assigned.
• Prepare clients and witnesses for interviews and hearings.
• Respond to requests for evidence, notices, and other agency or court communications.
• Research legal issues and monitor changes affecting active cases.
• Supervise and review work prepared by paralegals and support staff.
• Maintain accurate case records and ensure timely filings.
• Explain legal options, case developments, and next steps to clients.
• Coordinate with criminal defense counsel when criminal matters may affect immigration cases.
