Job Overview

A law firm seeks a full-time Immigration Attorney in the Seattle, WA area. The ideal candidate will independently manage complex immigration, detention, and appellate matters while collaborating effectively with a team of attorneys and support staff.

Duties

• Conduct consultations and advise clients on immigration options.
• Manage a diverse immigration caseload and ensure compliance with deadlines.
• Develop case strategies and supervise case preparation.
• Represent clients before USCIS and EOIR in various proceedings.
• Handle removal defense, asylum, humanitarian relief, and family-based immigration matters.
• Represent clients in habeas corpus proceedings in federal court.
• Draft and litigate appeals and motions before the Board of Immigration Appeals.
• Handle petitions for review and related proceedings before the Ninth Circuit.
• Research complex immigration and appellate issues.
• Supervise legal assistants and provide case updates to clients.
• Participate in case-review and team meetings.
• Travel as needed for hearings and interviews.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• Active admission and good standing with the Washington State Bar Association.
• Active admission and good standing before the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington.
• At least three years of full-time immigration law experience.
• Experience with removal defense, asylum, and family-based immigration.
• Experience with federal habeas corpus litigation.
• Experience with EOIR and BIA appeals.
• Familiarity with Ninth Circuit petitions for review.
• Strong legal research, writing, and advocacy skills.
• Ability to manage a demanding caseload and deadlines.
• Strong professional judgment and client-service skills.
• Ability to supervise staff and work collaboratively.
