Job description

Job Title: Associate Immigration Attorney – Removal Defense

Job Overview:
A law firm based in Irving, TX, is seeking a passionate and experienced Associate Immigration Attorney to manage removal defense cases and lead a legal support team. This role, offered through a legal recruitment partner, focuses on client advocacy, litigation support, and team oversight in a dynamic and bilingual environment. The ideal candidate brings both technical expertise and empathetic communication to support individuals navigating complex immigration proceedings.

Duties:

  1. Oversee daily operations of a team of immigration paralegals
  2. Collaborate with senior legal staff on case strategies and complex matters
  3. Review over 20 client applications per week to ensure accuracy and completeness
  4. Attend and represent clients at multiple weekly Master Calendar Hearings (2–8 per week)
  5. Draft and file procedural motions, including Motions to Recalendar, Withdraw, Consolidate, Change Venue, and Terminate
  6. Liaise with DHS to file joint motions when necessary
  7. Meet with clients to provide legal updates, strategic changes, and guidance on ongoing cases
  8. Represent clients during USCIS interviews and appointments
  9. Conduct regular case reviews and ensure critical deadlines are met
  10. Maintain consistent communication with legal team members to monitor case progress

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited institution
  • Active bar membership in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico
  • At least 1-2 years of direct experience handling immigration, removal, or deportation cases
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in supervising legal support staff
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize in a high-volume environment
  • Proficiency with legal case management tools and technology
  • Strong written and verbal advocacy skills
  • Skilled in mediation, negotiation, and client communication

Education:

Juris Doctor (JD)

Certifications:

Admission to the bar (in good standing) in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico
