Granite Construction is seeking a motivated college student for a summer internship to assist a project team with field construction activities, management support, and project documentation. You will gain hands-on experience in the heavy-civil industry while potentially earning course credit and income.

Responsibilities include assisting field operations, timecard validation, quantity verification in FIS, daily cost reporting, and coordination with foremen and the project engineer.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a high-production environment and respond quickly under pressure and deadlines.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Availability and willingness to travel frequently.
• Bilingual English/Spanish (preferred but not required).

Responsabilités

• Communicate with foremen and superintendent to learn about field construction operations and to provide support.
• Establish and maintain working relationships with owners, agencies, subcontractors, inspectors, and the local community.
• Assist the project engineer with approving timecards in Heavy Job and ensure accurate accounting of equipment and employee time.
• Provide support with verifying quantities in FIS (Field Information Systems) and log quantities for cost and revenue tracking.
• Assist the project engineer with generating and distributing daily cost reports to the project manager, foreman, and superintendent.
• Assist with completing daily reports documenting Intermountain Slurry Seal and subcontractor activities.
• Place necessary material orders, survey requests, locates, etc.
• Assist with calculations of yields of materials such as concrete, aggregate base and asphalt.
• Support the jobsite daily with the project manager or engineer to verify quantities claimed and monitor overall progress.
• Additional responsibilities as needed.
