BronxNet Public Media Corporation in Bronx, NY is seeking an Immersive Studio Operator to provide critical operational support for live and recorded studio productions. You will mentor staff, interns, and students in proper studio workflows while ensuring safe, efficient production workflows.

The role emphasizes working in a on-site studio environment, operating a range of control room gear, and contributing to AR/XR/VR production workflows.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Media Technology, Television/Broadcasting, Communications, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of professional experience operating within a live television control room, multi-camera studio, or media production environment.
  • Proficiency in Ross Video Voyager graphics platform and Unreal Engine; strong knowledge of 3D software such as Cinema 4D or Blender; Adobe CC (After Effects, Premiere Pro, Media Encoder, Frame.io) preferable.

Responsibilities

  • Operate studio and control room equipment, multi-camera arrays, PTZ cameras, video switchers, teleprompters, and LED lighting grids.
  • Graphics & Playback: Manage real-time on-air elements using systems such as Xpression Graphics, ensuring correct lower thirds, playback loops, and visual assets are deployed seamlessly.
  • Control Room Support: Monitor signal integrity, waveform monitors, vector scopes, and audio/video levels to guarantee high-quality broadcast feeds.
  • Student & Intern Mentorship: Guide, instruct, and supervise production interns and students on proper studio workflows, equipment handling, and safety measures in alignment with BronxNet’s workforce training goals.
  • Workplace Learning: Work cross-departmentally to contribute to internal training and knowledge-sharing sessions to advance staff proficiency in immersive media software and industry best practices for AR/XR/VR production.
  • Asset Management: log, track, and report technical malfunctions or equipment failures to the engineering team.
  • Other Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned to support organizational goals.

Position Summary:

The Immersive Studio Operator provides critical operational support for live & recorded studio and field productions. Additionally, the Studio Operator plays an integral role in BronxNet’s educational mission by assisting, guiding, and mentoring staff, community access producers, interns, and students in proper studio protocols and workflow execution.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Graphics & Playback: Manage and execute real-time on‑air elements using systems such as Xpression Graphics, ensuring correct lower thirds, playback loops, and visual assets are deployed seamlessly.

Required Education & Experience:
  • Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Media Technology, Television/Broadcasting, Communications, or a related field (equivalent hands‑on industry experience will be considered).
  • Experience: 1-3 years of professional experience operating within a live television control room, multi‑camera studio, or media production environment.
  • Technical Skills: Proven proficiency in Ross Video Voyager graphics platform and Unreal Engine. As well as proficiency in 3D software applications such as Cinema 4D, Blender or similar programs. Knowledgeable in operating broadcast switchers, digital audio consoles, studio cameras, teleprompters, and media encoding/streaming software. High proficiency in Apple Final Cut Pro and Adobe Creative Cloud tools (especially After Effects, Premiere Pro, Media Encoder, and Frame.io) is strongly preferred.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate technical workflows patiently and clearly to community members of diverse technical backgrounds.
  • Grace Under Pressure: Ability to work well with tight timelines and deadlines, and thrive in pressure‑driven production environments.
Physical & Environmental Demands:
  • Must be able to work on‑site in studio control rooms and enclosed studio environments.
  • Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods during long production schedules.
  • Must be able to safely lift, carry, and maneuver production equipment weighing up to 30 pounds.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends based on studio production slates.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with cloud‑centric media infrastructure and live‑streaming workflows.
  • Experience with IP‑based broadcast workflows and network media systems
  • Familiarity with CRM Databases a plus
  • Windows & Mac Operating Systems
  • Deep familiarity with or connection to the Bronx community.
  • Bilingual language skills (English/Spanish) are a major asset.
