Job summary

Meow Wolf Santa Fe seeks a Designer Fabricator to join the Artistic Development & Production team. This hands-on role designs and builds artistic/structural components for exhibitions and experiences, translating concepts into fabrication and on-site installations.

The position emphasizes collaboration, craftsmanship, and safety, with opportunities to mentor junior fabricators and contribute to diverse projects in a creative studio environment.

Qualifications

• Proficiency working with wood, metal, plastics and general assembly.
• Ability to create, interpret and redline shop drawings.
• Proficiency in at least one 2D platform (Illustrator, AutoCAD, or Striker).
• Proficiency in 3D modeling (Rhino, SolidWorks, or Fusion 360 preferred).
• Experience with 3D printing, CNC operations, laser or waterjet cutting, and welding.
• Strong understanding of machining tolerances and material properties.
• Basic understanding of designing/fabricating moving mechanisms.
• Demonstrated problem solving, initiative, reliability and professionalism.
• Google Workspace proficiency and material research/purchasing skills.
• Safety knowledge; OSHA-10 and AWS welding certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to concept ideation, materials estimates, production planning and procurement.
• Produce artistic and structural elements to spec with high craftsmanship.
• Create, interpret, and redline shop drawings; align scope with PMs.
• Perform on-site installation including layout, fit-up and punch-list fixes.
• Maintain a tidy work area and uphold shop safety protocols.
• Document work with photos/notes for review and maintenance.
• Mentor junior fabricators and share methods.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
