Job summary

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Previous experience as a substitute teacher.
• Copy of the Effective Teacher Training Certificate or Teaching License.
• Strong technology integration skills.
• Ability to effectively use multiple software applications.

Responsibilities

• Follows the lesson plan left by the teacher for whom he/she is substituting.
• Possess the ability to plan appropriate educational activities for students when there are no plans available or when assigned because of an emergency.
• Maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective learning.
• Applies all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, materials, equipment and facilities.
• Maintains as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which he/she is assigned.
• Assumes responsibility for overseeing student behavior in class and during lunch, class change and other break periods.
• Follows all policies, rules, and procedures to which regular teachers are subject and which good teaching practice dictates.
• Serves as team player and role model for other employees in the organization; demonstrates a commitment to continuous quality improvement; supports and exhibits organizational core values of caring, respect, integrity, responsibility, high expectations, being customer driven, and valuing fairness.
• Performs other duties and accepts responsibilities as assigned.
