ATC Nassau County seeks a licensed School Social Worker to support students' social, emotional, and academic success in Lawrence, NY. The role links homes, schools, and communities, providing direct and indirect services to students, families, and school personnel to promote and support students' academic and social success.

Qualifications

• Active NYS Master of Social Work license (LMSW).
• NYS School Social Worker certification.
• 1–2 years of relevant experience.
• Resume submissions and in-person interviews required.
• Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds.
• Strong listening and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Providing crisis intervention
• Developing intervention strategies to increase academic success.
• Assisting with conflict resolution and anger management
• Assessing students with mental health concerns
• Helping the student develop appropriate social interaction skills.
• Assisting the student in understanding and accepting self and others
• Working with parents to facilitate their support in their children's school adjustment.
• Assisting parents to access programs available to students with special needs.
• Assisting parents in accessing and utilizing school and community resources
• Providing staff with essential information to better understand factors (cultural, societal,economic, familial, health, etc.) affecting a student's performance and behavior.
• Assisting teachers with behavior management.
• Maintaining accurate case files and reports to track students' issues and progress.
• Creating a plan to help students function in a school environment.
• Working to find the best solution for each student and situation.
