Job summary

GW Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the IMC/PCU to provide high-quality, patient-centered care to acutely ill patients. You will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care while adhering to clinical standards in a dynamic healthcare setting.

The role requires strong clinical judgment, ability to manage complex conditions, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams. On-site unit with a focus on step-down stabilization and rapid response readiness.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Washington, DC (or eligibility).
• BSN preferred; ASN considered with commitment to obtain BSN.
• BLS and ACLS certification current.
• Minimum 1 year of acute care experience (IMC, PCU, Telemetry, or ICU preferred).

Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to IMC/PCU patients with complex medical conditions.
• Monitor cardiac rhythms, vital signs, and patient status; respond to changes promptly.
• Administer medications, treatments, and therapies per physician orders and clinical protocols.
• Utilize advanced monitoring equipment and participate in rapid response situations.
• Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and interdisciplinary teams to plan and implement care.
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and quality standards.
