Job summary

Procter & Gamble invites a PhD candidate to join our Imaging and Quantitative Analysis research efforts at the Mason Business & Innovation Center. This 12-week internship focuses on imaging hardware, software, and workflows to improve image quality and quantitative assessment for consumer-product applications.

You will design, prototype, and test imaging systems, working alongside engineers and scientists to deliver a validated workflow and demonstrable improvements.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a PhD in a relevant quantitative field.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in independent research and communicating results.
• Hands-on experience with experimental research, prototyping, or computational methods.
• Experience using Python or MATLAB for data analysis or experiments.
• Availability for a 12-week internship May/June–August 2027; in Mason office 4–5 days/week.

Responsibilities

• Design and prototype imaging hardware and supporting software.
• Integrate and evaluate components affecting image capture.
• Develop and apply image-processing and image-analysis methods.
• Design and conduct experiments to evaluate image quality.
• Analyze images and data with scientific computing tools.
• Document designs, methods, results, and learnings.
• Communicate findings to multidisciplinary partners and deliver a working prototype or validated workflow.
