Job description

Overview

The Imaging Technician will complete processes related to ingestion, storage, and availability of Radiology Images for patients. This position is key to ensuring timely transfer and processing of images from outside facilities to allow for transfer of critical and non-critical patients to Carle. The technician will assist the Radiology team in preparing anonymized images for teaching, daily routing of results and errors, processing image transfer requests, and patient account merges within several Radiology systems. Responsible for sending externally requested images/exams electronically to ensure continuity of patient care. Customer service and attention to detail are essential in this role.

Experience Requirements
  • Previous clerical work experience is strongly preferred but not required.
  • Prior exposure to imaging systems and healthcare computer applications is preferred.
  • Experience with EPIC Radiant and Merge iConnect is helpful but not required.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills are necessary.
Qualifications

Certification & Licensure Requirements

  • Carle EPIC Certification within 6 months.
Responsibilities

Proficiency with Windows-based applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and healthcare systems including EMR and imaging systems. Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and adapt positively to changes. Ability to build relationships with internal departments and external facilities. Capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously with accuracy. Ability to apply problem-solving skills based on departmental policies with minimal supervision. Effective communication skills in person, email, or phone. Comfortable working in a deadline-driven environment. Ability to interpret data and maintain attention to detail.

Essential Functions
  • Support the transfer center in ingesting outside images into the enterprise archive for various referrals.
  • Upload digital images received electronically or via media to patient charts and storage.
  • Process email and fax requests for image transfers.
  • Perform chart comparisons within Radiology systems for patient merges.
  • Monitor work queues and resolve errors related to results routing.
  • Manage daily unread lists, errors, and work queues.
  • Print departmental control sheets for outside locations.
  • Handle Service Desk tickets related to image storage.
  • Create anonymized discs or files for teaching upon request.
  • Assist in orientation, onboarding, and training of new staff members.

Compensation and Benefits
