Join our Saint Alphonsus team as an Imaging Patient Care Specialist:

The Imaging Patient Care Specialist provides exceptional customer service and administrative support within the Medical Imaging department. This role serves as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, ensuring accurate patient registration, insurance verification, scheduling, and ordering of imaging procedures while fostering a healing and supportive environment. This position is structured across three levels to recognize increasing expertise, cross-functional knowledge, training responsibilities, and leadership contributions within the department.

Imaging Patient Care Specialist I

• Greet and assist patients, families, physicians, and visitors in a professional and compassionate manner.
• Obtain, verify, and accurately record patient demographic, insurance, and billing information.
• Register patients and enter information into applicable systems.
• Schedule and order imaging procedures accurately and in a timely manner.
• Verify physician orders and ensure completeness of required documentation.
• Answer phones and respond to inquiries regarding imaging services.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
• Support a positive patient experience by providing excellent customer service and promoting a healing environment.

Required

• High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred

• Experience in a hospital, healthcare, or medical office setting.
• Knowledge of health insurance processes and medical terminology.

Imaging Patient Care Specialist II

In addition to Level I responsibilities:

• Demonstrate proficiency through cross-training in a minimum of two additional Radiology support areas.
• Assist with onboarding and training of new staff members.
• Conduct audits and monitor workflow processes to ensure quality and accuracy.
• Gather and report departmental statistics and performance data.
• Support inventory management by ordering materials and supplies as needed.
• Assist with department scheduling and operational coordination.
• Serve as a mentor and role model for staff, demonstrating professionalism and a positive attitude toward organizational initiatives and policies.

Required

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a medical or healthcare setting.
• Demonstrated competency in Imaging Patient Care Specialist I responsibilities.
• Successful cross-training in at least two additional Radiology support areas.

Imaging Patient Care Specialist III

In addition to Level I and II responsibilities:

• Lead training and orientation programs for new registrars and support ongoing staff education.
• Assess training needs and develop or deliver additional education as appropriate.
• Perform auditing activities to ensure registration accuracy, compliance, and adherence to departmental standards.
• Coordinate scheduling activities and support operational workflow improvements.
• Maintain proficiency by regularly performing Imaging Patient Care Specialist functions.
• Collaborate closely with Patient Accounting, Registration, and Imaging leadership to identify educational opportunities and process improvements.
• Support data integrity initiatives and monitor registration accuracy and performance outcomes.
• Provide leadership and guidance to team members while promoting best practices and continuous improvement.

Required

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of two (2) years of relevant healthcare, registration, or imaging support experience.
• Minimum of one (1) year of training or staff development experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in registration processes, auditing, workflow improvement, and data accuracy reporting.

Preferred

• Two (2) years of leadership or supervisory experience.
• Advanced experience in patient registration, quality auditing, training development, and reporting.
