Job summary

AdventHealth in Tampa, FL is seeking a Radiology Scheduling Clerk to coordinate workflow for radiology modalities, ensure accurate appointment scheduling, and provide front-desk support. You will communicate with physicians, staff, and patients to minimize wait times and uphold HIPAA privacy.

The role requires strong customer service, attention to detail, and the ability to handle urgent situations calmly. Prior radiology office experience and BLS certification are preferred.

Qualifications

• Excellent oral and written communication skills and customer service experience.
• Strong attention to detail and organization.
• Ability to exercise judgment and initiative to resolve problems and expedite patient care.
• Calm, professional interaction with patients and families.
• Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and HIS data entry.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; PACS experience preferred.
• Familiarity with PowerScribe and PowerShare is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Performs records release of films/reports, HIPAA compliant.
• Monitors strategic objectives and confirms outpatient appointments.

Job Description

• Shift M-F
• Coordinates workflow for all radiology modalities, continuously reviewing patient wait times, satisfaction, and communication with radiologists.
• Ensures accuracy of scheduled appointments and proper outpatient preparation for radiographic tests.
• Collaborates and communicates successfully with entities outside the hospital and acts as a positive representative of the hospital to the community.
• Schedules special procedures with physicians and physician office staff via phone and fax.
• Reviews tentative schedules and consults with Modality Leader, Lead Nurse, Admissions, radiologists, and others to address scheduling impacts.
• Consults with Director, Lead RN, Radiologist, and Modality Leaders regarding schedule conflicts, concerns, or requests outside established policy.
• Communicates with designated departments for add-on cases if patients are not yet admitted and send reservations within established timeframes.
• Monitors, provides feedback, develops, and implements process improvement workflows with Director approval.
• Assists Radiology Director, Manager, Supervisor, Leads, and Staff Members with projects and duties as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Provides front-desk support to minimize wait times and resolves customer service issues by checking in patients and addressing front-line service concerns.
• Performs records release of radiology films and reports to patients or other medical facilities, ensuring HIPAA compliance.
• Monitors, coordinates, and communicates strategic objectives of the radiology department and confirm outpatient appointments.
