Job summary

Midstate Radiology Associates in Wallingford, CT is seeking a full-time Authorization Coordinator to obtain insurance authorizations for imaging exams. This on-site role runs Mon-Fri, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM or 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with starting pay in the $21.00–$26.30 hourly range and potential advancement to Authorization Coordinator II after six months.

The ideal candidate will work confidently with patients, carriers and physicians, using CPT codes accurately, and maintain precise data entry

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Prior medical insurance experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of HMO insurance carrier products and requirements.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Obtains insurance authorizations and eligibility for scheduled exams.
• Enters data accurately and applies CPT codes for authorizations.
• Contacts insurance companies for prior authorization and predetermination.
• Notifies staff of authorization updates and educates external customers on procedures.
• Works with denials by researching, appealing, and communicating with payers.
• Schedules certain exams as directed by the Manager.
