Job summary

Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center is seeking a PRN Imaging Assistant to support radiology operations. You will assist with exams, position patients, and help with quality control under a technologist's supervision.

The role involves entering data in the RIS, coordinating schedules, and maintaining safety standards. Applicants should have a High School Diploma or equivalent, with enrollment or graduation from a radiography/sonography/nuclear medicine program and at least 6 months of clinical

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; enrollment or graduation from radiography/sonography/nuclear medicine program is preferred.
• 6 months of clinical experience in inpatient/outpatient setting.
• CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily equipment inspections and quality control under supervision of a Technologist.
• Assist Radiologist and Technologist with setting up contrast, but not loading or priming the injector.
• Acquire quality images following radiation safety standards.
• Assist with patient positioning and exam setup under supervision.
• Enter patient data, track exams, and schedule in the Radiology Information System (RIS).
• Perform modality-specific exams under supervision and maintain competencies.
• Follow Universal Precautions and safety guidelines at all times.
• Conduct basic lab collections with documented competency when required.
• Answer phones courteously and participate in staff meetings.

We perform a variety of duties under the direction of a registered technologist. Able to perform some exams after competencies have been completed with the School of Radiologic Technology. Handles patients of all ages (neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics).

How you'll contribute

An Imaging Assistant, PRN who excels in this role:

• Assist with daily equipment inspections, warm up procedures and follow Quality Control Program under supervision of a Technologist.
• Assist Radiologist and Technologist setting up contrast; however, will never be responsible for loading or priming the injector.
• Obtain quality images while following radiation safety standards and protocols.
• Assist with positioning and performing exams, but should never hold the detector or patients for Radiation procedures.
• Arrive patients, track exams, scan scripts, and schedule exams in the Radiology Information Systems.
• Assist Radiologist and Technologist in performing modality specific exams.
• Maintain clinical proficiency for all completed competencies and equipment skills.
• Follows safety procedures and guidelines and reports unsafe practices and conditions.
• Assists with, and with documented competency, perform lab collections.
• Consistently and appropriately follows Universal Precautions.
• Operates office equipment as needed.
  Answers phone in an efficient, courteous manner.
• Attends and participates in staff meetings.
• Maintains professional skills and provides age-specific care to patients of all ages (neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults and geriatrics).
• Assists in performing first aid, CPR and AED.
• Performs patient transport.

What we're looking for

Applicants should possess a High School Diploma or equivalent. Additional requirements include:

• Current enrollment or graduate of radiography (JRCERT accredited), sonography (CAAHEP accredited), or nuclear medicine technologist program (JRCNMT accredited).
• 6 months clinical experience in inpatient/outpatient setting.
