Job summary

The Arc of Pennsylvania is seeking a passionate Program Specialist to support Include Me, serving schools and communities in the Philadelphia area. This hybrid role combines in-person and remote work, delivering trainings, consulting, and observational support to advance inclusive education practices for students with disabilities.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's in Education or related field (or equivalent experience), can travel as needed, and is committed to inclusive education,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field is required or equivalent experience.
• Ability to obtain Pennsylvania clearances: Act 34, Act 151, Act 126, Act 114, Act 168.
• Strong understanding of and commitment to inclusion and inclusive practices.
• Proven ability to implement inclusive activities in general education settings.
• Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities across multiple sites.
• Adaptable, detail-oriented, and solution-focused.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to view challenges from multiple perspectives.
• Comfortable presenting to both small and large groups.
• Co-facilitate inclusive student-facing programs virtually and/or in‑school ranging from 4-30 students.
• Willingness and ability to travel, including overnight and evening events.
• Strong computer skills, including data entry and proficiency with Microsoft Office and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a roster of supported school buildings and students (with appropriate consents).

• Collaborate with Program Director to define success criteria, measure effectiveness, and report outcomes.

About Include Me

The mission of Include Me is to develop, support, and enhance disability-inclusive practices across Pennsylvania. We partner with school districts to create comprehensive, customized plans that meet the unique needs of districts, educators, students, and families. Program Specialists play a critical role in strengthening inclusive education capacity and ensuring students have equal access to education, community participation, and lifelong opportunities.

Position Overview

TheProgram Specialistprovides direct support to schools and educators to advance inclusive education practices. This is ahybrid position: when not providing in‑school support, the Program Specialist will work remotely from a home office.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with The Arc of Pennsylvania’s Program Director to define success criteria, measure effectiveness of initiatives, and report outcomes

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related fieldor equivalent experience

NEW Module Just Arrived - Trauma-Informed Care. Visit our E-Learning Module Series. This series provides information and strategies for teachers, families, and paras to support the education of all students.

The Arc of Pennsylvania’s Making Employment Work course is an ACRE Basic Certification Training. In order to receive certification, participants must attend a 3 day, in-person training and then complete a self-paced, online curriculum. Completing this certification course will qualify individuals to provide Supported Employment services with Pennsylvania’s Office of Vocational Rehabilitation and Office of Developmental Programs. Our training combines lessons learned from traditional Supported Employment and Customized Employment techniques.

Arc Discovery Employment Transitions (ADEPT) is The Arc of Pennsylvania’s customized employment program. The Arc of Pennsylvania supports individuals with significant impact of disability to seek and maintain customized employment in their community. As a result, The Arc of Pennsylvania’s consultants are trained and nationally certified by Marc Gold & Associates, a national leader in customized employment, to provide Discovery, Customized Employment Job Development, and Systematic Instruction to individuals with disabilities in Pennsylvania who are seeking employment. In addition to providing customized employment services, The Arc of Pennsylvania hosts several certification courses with Marc Gold & Associates for individuals and organizations interested in national certification in Discovery, Job Development, and Systematic Instruction.

Include Me is a new model for inclusive education and gaining meaningful employment for Pennsylvania’s students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Include Me is an initiative that was part of the agreement on final terms between the plaintiffs and the Pennsylvania Department of Education in the Gaskin Settlement Agreement. We were initially assigned to work with school districts with the lowest inclusion rates. After the initial success, we have grown in reputation among school districts. Currently districts voluntarily chose our services, which are provided free of charge to the district. In addition to our School Age services, we offer transition‑age services to help teams plan a path to customized employment for students transitioning from high school.
